About me
I am a Design Director specializing in editorial design, visual journalism, and digital product development.
Since May 2026, I have been serving again as Design Director at Der Tagesspiegel, one of Germany’s leading news organizations. Prior to that, I was Design Director at Funke Mediengruppe, where I worked on the development of editorial products and design systems across multiple news brands.
Before joining Funke, I was Design Director at Tamedia, Switzerland’s largest publishing company based in Zurich, where I contributed to editorial and digital design strategy across multiple publications.
From 2018 to 2024, I served as Design Director, Head of Visual, and member of the extended editorial leadership team at Der Tagesspiegel in Berlin. During this time, I led the award-winning relaunch of the Tagesspiegel brand and its editorial products. I founded the Visual Department, building a multidisciplinary team of digital art directors and photo editors while merging print and digital design teams into a unified visual newsroom.
The relaunch was recognized as European Newspaper of the Year 2024 by the European Newspaper Award and received further recognition from INMA and the Art Directors Club Germany.
In 2023, I was invited to serve as a jury member for the Society for News Design Best of News Design competition in New York and to speak at their annual conference.
Alongside my full-time roles, I continue to work as a freelance Design Director for a range of German publishing houses as well as for Garcia Media, USA, contributing to editorial products, redesigns, and strategic design projects.
Together with Lina Moreno, I co-organize Germany’s leading meet-up for Visual Journalism and News Design. I also run the platform Visual Journalism, focusing on visual storytelling, information design, data visualization, and innovation in news media.
From 2014 to 2019, I was a regular visiting lecturer at HTW Berlin, and in 2023 I taught at FH Potsdam.
